NJASK
During NJASK testing week the first two sections are reading and writing. I enjoyed the reading and writing sections of the NJASK because having ms. Patalano as a teacher I really improved my writing and having her I remembered the opposition and other important skills to have when writing a speculative explanatory or persuasive essay. For the first essay in the first day section I wrote 3 pages and I remembered everything Ms. Patalano had taught me and I did perfectly fine and had a great time doing all of the persuasive essays. Overall, I did like the reading and writing portions of the NJASK.

Speculitive writing
Every day of the year Sam and Ashley's parents work very hard, and didn't come home till late that night.
"Mom and dad's anniversary is coming up in two days," Ashley tells her little brother Sam. "We should try to make them an anniversary dinner here."
"I agree we should because they do work very hard and and they do so much for us every single day." Sam announces proudly.
"If we are going to plan this then it has o be something totally amazing that their going to be so excited and so proud of us."Ashley points ou to her brother."We can set the table with the table cloth, plates, cups, forks, spoons, and careful with the knifes, and also we are going to need napkins, and we are also going to need to get food for them somehow before they get home."
Sam thought that was a great idea. "We can get them food from the chinese place doen the block, we have he number on the fridge."Sam shows Ashley.
"Thats great but how are we going to pay for there food, all I have is 10 dollors from doing my chores."Ashley sighs.
"I also have 10 dollors" Sam points out to Ashley.
"Perfect know we have food."Ashley announces. "Now tomorrow we need to set the table with the table cloth, cups, plates , forks, spoons, knifes and be very careul with them, and lastly napkins."
"We can also clean so that the house looks nice when they come in" Sam suggested to Ashley.
"We can do this" Ashley tells her brother Sam proudly.
The very next day Sam and Ashley rushed home to get every thing set up for their parents anniversary dinner like the table with the table cloth, plates, cups, napkins, forks ,knifes, and spoons, and order the food.
"Sam can you go order the food while I set up table for dinner?" Ashley asked Sam.
"Sure, and I will get what mom and dad always get."Sam told Ashley.
After Sam had ordered the food and Ashley had set the table for the anniversary dinner, they were waiting for the food to arrive. After thirty minutes they were still waiting for the food.
"It is getting way to close to eight o' clock." Ashley said worryful.
"Why don't we ask Josh our neighbor, hes a great cook and he will not charge us because we have known him for years and he loves to help us with differnt things like showing us how to cook, and build things." Sam explains to Ashley.
"Your right!"Ashley exclaimed to Sam.
Josh lived right next door to the left of Sam and Ashley, so they walked over and rang the door bell.
"Hey, what are you guys doing here?" Josh questioned Ashley and Sam.
"Well we were hoping that you could help us with something for our parents for there anniversary?"Ashley asked Josh.
"Well sure, what is it?"Josh quesioned Ashley.
"We were hoping that you could help us cook dinner for our parents to have a nice anniversary dinner?"Ashley asked once more.
"Well sure, lets go cook that dinner you were talking about."Josh says gladly.
After they head back to Ashley and Sams house to cook their parents anniversary dinner they ask Josh what they could cook for this dinner.
Josh suggested that we make either "Ham, and veges or turky and veges?"
We decided that we should have ham and vetables because their mom and dad loved ham and not so much for turkey. After cooking there dinner Ashley and Sam set the food up on there parents plates. After wards Ashley and Sam hugged and thanked Josh for what he had done for them.
"Thank you so much," as Ashley and sam were hugging him tight.
"Your welcome, and no problum at all, just ask anytime and I will be there." Josh told the two of them.
After Josh left they were waiting for there parents to walk threw the door and be surprised. The door started to open and they sarted to get excited. The door opened and they yelled...
SURPRISE!!!!!
To there mom and dad a showed them what they have prepare for them to eat. At the end of the night there parents were so pround of them they wanted them to do it again.

Response to quote
Many failures and success come in ones life along the path of life. Japanese proverb states "Fall seven times, and stand up eight". When you fail a lot you need to keep on trying until you succeed what you are doing.
As me being a human we all make any kind of mistakes either from problums in math to instruments mistakes with notes and or rythems. I have made many mistakes in my own life. An example is when I first started playing the clarinet, I could not get any of the note out and I did't know how to put the instrument together. Another mistake was when I was first learning to make a paper air plane. When I tryed making a paper airplane it would just float right to the ground and would not go more than 5 feet. It took me about 10 tries just to get it to fly longer and higher. Many of the famous people today such as Selena Gomez, and Demi lavato make many mistakes in there carrers. Alot more of the famous singers and actors have failed many times and eventually got better and have sucseed. A recent story shows that Miley cyrys has been making plentey of mistakes and are trying to fix them and she has sucseed in doing that.

Peruasive Topic
Most of the middle school students don't enjoy the fitness days two times a week. Students should have choses in stead of fitness days. They should be able to chose between runing, lifting weights, play matball, dodgeball and other fun games instead of running.Also instead of running for a long period of time we could run for 2 then walk for 1 minute and keep it going until we have ran the time thaat we have had to run. Another way we can have fitness days is we can exersize the time we are supose to be running and we can get the same amount of exersize then when we are running.
Many students complain about always having to run such a long period of time instead we can just run for 2 minutes then walk for 1 and so on and so forth until we ran the amount of time that we need to run. Instead of running we can play somthing like soccer, dodgeball, frisbe and baskteball, instead of running in an oval shape for 19 to 22 minutes. when your running in a circl foe 19 minutes and listening to music,it can get very boring .If we had other options then we could get alot more exersize because we are doing what we love to do.
From a middle school in florida they used the method of exersizing instead of running and within a week more students were participating then when they were running. students said that when they tried exersizing instead of running that they felt better and had more energy at the end of the day then when they were running.
From other middle schools in Edison they are using the method of running for 2 minutes then walking for 1 minute and the kids say that this is a lot better then when they were running for such a long period of time. from what the students have said the best thing to do on fitness day is run for 2 min. and then walk for 1 minute.

Dear Superintendent O'malley,
"Only our individual faith in freedom can keep us free"(Dwight D. Eisenhower). Should schools have uniforms or not? Some schools require uniforms for the safety and welfare for the kids. Other schools don't require uniforms, this is because these schools allow kids to dress in the policy but don't have to wear the same thing every day. Schools should not have uniforms because no kid can be an individual if some one else is wearing the same clothes. Some things why there should be no uniforms is because they cost a lot of money, does not allow a child to be themselves and may cause rebellion, such as grafete and other damage.
More schools require uniforms then other schools. This doesn't allow for kids to be individuals. When schools have uniforms then your taking away the clothes that they love to wear and and the fun of being in school, say if you just bought new clothes that you want to wear in school you can't because you have to wear the uniform.With uniforms, kids in higher grades like in middle school and even in high school they still can't make there own decisions even when there in 8th grade. Some say that it's great because it helps in the morning when there in a rush to get ready. Other people fell different and that no child can be themselves when they are all wearing the same outfit.
Schools that require uniforms cost to much money and sometimes cost over $100. Schools should not have uniforms because they cost too much money. Some parents will pay for the uniforms so there kids can have an education at the school but they might not be able to pay for other event in the school year. Another, is that if every thing is costing to much then not that many people will go to that school. Some parents would say that money is no issue. Other people say that money is an issue with all the layoffs.
Some kids may get made that there are uniforms. From decision of having uniforms, they may cause rebelion. Some of the schools say that this could never happen because all of the kids are well under control. Other schools say different because they there school has been vandilized before when there were uniforms.
School uniforms should not be allowed for the fact that theres no individuality and only sameness. If schools don't have uniforms then they will eliminate problums. If there are uniforms then problums that might occur are no indiduality, they will cost a lot of money, and may cause rebellion, like grafete and other bad damage. Why should a t.v station pick my commercial
Seeing different commercials can give you different ideas of what might be out there to buy. For instice say if your are going to buy a T.V there are tons of t.v ad.s and comercials out there that might give you ideas. For instance with my commercial/ad I am promoting netbook laptops. Netbook laptops have abilities of portibility, easy to use, and great for ages 10 and up. Netbooks have there advantages and disadvantages, some of the advantanges are metioned above and some disadvantages are that viris can form quickly and there are many sites that you can't access, some of thoses sites are wekinz if your a kid or an adult another web site is glogster because ou would need to download different stuff and it will make your computer alot slower.The reason why a T.V station should pick my comercial is because it will get the word out of netbooks with different colors and fun use of them, and the greatness in one small laptop. From our college and career unit I have learned many different and interesting things for this unit. Some thing I learned with this college and career unit is how to find information with different sites and looking at different colleges. When researching different colleges it was very intresting to find what kind of colleges that offer my major and many other things I was looking for in college like nice doorm rooms and classes. Also when looking at the different sites and colleges it was very cool because you could see what kind of applications you needed and maybe even there calenders and addmission times, either fall, winter, spring, or summer.Some other things that I learned was how to type a resume, letter of recomendation, and college essay. While learning about all of these things it was a great experience and finding out what college to go to and wri6ting and typing so many documents it was a lot of fun. over the last couple of weeks we have been doing this unit. Through out this challenge of getting research and finding the right college just for me I have chosen The School Julliard of Performing Arts.
Over all this career and college unit was very fun and interesting!

My dog Khloe
There she goes! Khloe is always going 100 miles a minute. She is the fastest dog I know. Khloe is very wild and the crazyest dog of the two. She does all kinds of stuff like throws her toys in the air then catches them and always trys to get my other dog Rocky to play with her, but instead he just grals and walks away from her. She is the funniest dog ever!

Technology has changed and increased the speed of communication between two or more people. Some people are always using technology like clickers, laptops, elmos, and smart boards. Because of some of these electronics may cause short attention spands,and lack of focas. Some people will learn less then what they learned before because they would be focasing on what they were going to do on the computer when they got home. I have fould my information from experience and observations.

Welcome Ms. Carroll!!!!!
Hi! My name is Ashley Rosenfield. I went ben frankiln last year and Mrs. Goldberg was my teacher. In my spear time I like to play on the cumputer or go outside if it is a nice day. In middle school I like our lockers and when we change for gym. The only thing in middle school that I hate is social studies. Not the teacher but the work. My strenghs are math, english, science, french, band and gym. My only weekness is social studies.
In Mrs. Patalano's english class we start of by grabing what we need from the back table and then start our grammer worksheet. Then we go over the grammer worksheet and then we go over what we got from the back table. After all that then period is over. When third period comes along we usally read on the rug or if we have group reading work we do that and after we read on the rug we would read independently.After all this it is finally time to leave english and head off to lunch!

Goals
Ever since I was little I knew I wanted to be involved in music in some type of way. When i was in the second grade we were making anything we wanted for our science fair at ben franklin and of course me being as I love to make music I made a drum out of wax paper amd a round tin container. Also, In the third grade I played the recorder with a lot of time practicing to get more ribbons to decorate my recorder.At the the end third grade I chose to play the trombone and did very well , maybe have preformed 6-7 concerts. In 4th grade I stared the trombone and in 5th I didn't play anymore and sarted the clarinet in the summer. Throughout Elementry school and middle school I have lisented to music and made different things to her the different sounds they would make.If I ever become a musician/composer then will want to go to Juilliard and continue my dream of being a famos clarinetist.After all it is a longtime till I may achive my goal with hard work and focasing on what I love to do so that my dream will become a reality.

When January first comes around it is time to make adjustments to your life.This year (2011), my main resolution that i want to focus on is to complete all homework assignments. I sometimes don’t like to do homework because some thing's they seem hard but then i work threw it and sometimes, I don’t even try because I am to tired. I plan to accomplish this goal by when I get home I will take out my dogs and then do my homework right away. If I achieve this goal then I will be able to get the A honer roll rather than an A-B honer roll than in the last marking period.

Is There A Santa?
Children sleeping hopeing the night will go by quickly to see what Santa has given them. Some even wait to hear the sleigh bells of Santa's sleigh. Many of the children wake up before there parents or even up before anyone else in the house.(In my family it is always my sister)As Christmas day finally comes theres yelling to get everyone up because in some houses as does mine my mom likes to take pictures of us with our gifts or they want to give us the presents and for us not to just take the presents.Some say that Santa is just a made up character and others say he's not he's a living human being. Most people don't belive in Santa because of previest gifts. They also don't belive because maybe as a kid or if you are a kid then you were maybe not taught to belive in Santa. Some just plainly dont belive in Santa in this moive"Miricle on 34th strreet"and they brought kkris kringle to court charging that he is not Santa Clause and the movie polar express it potrays that if you dont belive in Santa then you will not hear his sliegh bells . Others say that Santa is real and in the movie " Polar Express" kids that did not write there letter to Santa went on the polar express and they went to go see Santa and out of how ever many kids there were , to one of them he would give the first gift of christmas and when the elfs put the sliegh bells on the boy did not here any bells but the girl did and one of the sliegh bells fell of and he picked it up shaked it and there was no noise, then he kepet saying "I Belive" sevell times.Santa came over to him and Santa asked what he said he said "I Belive" at that momment the boy gave him the bell and Santa was ready to give the first gift of christmas and he picked the boy that said "I Belive" and when he climbed onto the sliegh Santa asked " And what would you like for christmas this year?" The boy wispered into Santa's ear and he showed the little bell that fell of the sliegh and anouced it was the first gift of christmas and this potrays that if you really belive in Santa then when he comes you will hear his sliegh bells.Personaly i think that Santa is real because if you think about it, What if no one new you were alive or even exsited especially if you have a magnificent tallent or if any thing your great at just think and tell me in your comment how you would fell if no one belived you are a liviing person?

Dear Santa Clause
It’s the holiday season and people should try and make others wishes come true. As Santa you know how to brighten millions of peoples days on Christmas morning. The one thing that I hope that I have under my Christmas tree is the color nook. This could also help my brother and sister when they read for summer reading and for books during the school year. This electronic device will allow me to view more books and have more books to explore more words than my own vocabulary. Right now I don’t have a device like the color Nook and the paper back books take up a lot of room in my locker and wood be easier to be organized and I would probably do better in school. I know that you are really busy this year with other peoples wishes put if you could just take time to think about this it would make my very happy and maybe to her back.
